Architectural Photography
After completing photographic studies, I began to study Fine Art and Architectural drawing. ‘I was asked to do some Architectural Photography and it went from there. I bought the 4x5 and 5x7 view cameras that was needed at the time and have traveled to many places doing studies of buildings, streets and building interiors. I also do renderings of buildings for clients. Hotel and Motel chains have had me photograph their lobbies, guest rooms, pools, bars, restaurants, etc to promote their chains. As stated on other pages, this is a new site and I will me displaying more samples as time allows me to post.

Architectural Problem Sloving

Sometimes that beautiful sun is just not where you want it to be. Case in point. This beautiful home is built on a picturesque Bay in Western Newfoundland, Canada. It is built on newly developed property sitting on top of a bluff looking out over the North Atlantic. My job was to capture the roofing material and allow it to blend with the home and surrounding landscape. I choose to shoot in early morning light to let the roof have clean contrast against the blue water of the Atlantic. Late afternoon light would have lite the home, but the Atlantic would have been a deep blue. I felt that would have been distracting to the roof of this beautiful home, and the roofing material is what my client is selling. Early morning light left me with some difficult problems to solve. I was shooting directly into the sun. ( see other images). Working in photoshop and a couple of other programs, I was able to achieve exactly what my client was looking for.
